Islamabad High Court (IHC) has rejected law officer plea for transferring the case of marriage of choice to Punjab.
Plea by the two sisters seeking protection in marriage of choice case came up for hearing before IHC Monday.
Chief Justice IHC remarked during the course of hearing of the case all will be responsible if any harm is caused to girls and their husbands.
Malaika Fatima told the court Jirga has imprisoned her husband for contracting love marriage.
The law officer told the court case pertains to Punjab, therefore, it should be sent to Punjab.
Chief Justice while rejecting the plea of the law officer remarked “should we leave them helpless if they are not being provided protection therein.
The court inquired from police what investigation was made by police for the protection of the two sisters.
Police told the court both the girls were subjected to medical test and they were shifted to shelter home.
The court while directing the IG Islamabad Police to conduct complete investigation remarked SSP Islamabad police should present report on the application for providing protection to the girls on June 10.
The court directed to shift the two sisters who contracted love marriage to Benazir Crisis Centre.
It may be mentioned that Malaika Fatime and her sister Maryam Fatima residents of Gujranwala have resorted to court that they contracted love marriage and upon it their family members tried to kill both of them. Therefore, they should be provided protection.
