Government once again decides to increase power tariff by 18 paisa per unit
Islamabad, November 15: Government has once again decided to increase power tariff by 18 paisa per unit.
Government just before approval of an agreement worth $450 million reached between Pakistan authorities and International Monetary Fund (IMF) administration and executive director has decided to hike power tariff.
Under this decision, 10 power distribution companies will generate additional revenue worth Rs 17.2 billion
Following approval by National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) by the end of this month, price of power tariff will increase from Rs 13.51 to 13.69 per unit.
General sales tax is not included in this.
Increase in power tariff was such an agenda of agreement between Pakistani officials and IMF staff that was not implemented.
IMF had said in its report that work is going on for completion of targets till the end of September.
Recommendation for increase in power tariff has been given for first quarterly from July to September of this financial year.
